Jeep [jp] Eagle Cliff Snow Run 2009

We are planning our annual Snow run to Eagle Cliff, for the thrid weekend in January.  That's the 23, 24 and 25.  Marty is checking to see if we can rent our usual cabin.  If not, other arrangement will be made, please keep checking this thread for information.

Check out our photos of the 2008 run

What's with the line-through?  Does that mean you won't be there?

Re: Eagle Cliff Snow Run 2009

I contacted the Lone Fir in Cougar, and they have a big cabin that sleeps 10 people and is available for the weekend of our run. It does not have a fire place but it has heat, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, power, living room and is basicily a big hotel room. I wanted to talk to the owner but he is out of town till after Christmas. I think that I will call them back today and reserve it. Here is their web site so anyone can look at it and tell us what you think. It is cabin number 8 and they have pics so you can see it. www.lonefirresort.com I think this will be better than Eagle Cliff for a base camp and starting point. There is a gas station 1 block away so we would not have to carry gas cans and there will always be people there so we would not have to worry about our stuff getting messed with. Our newest members, Gene and Heather stay there during Elk season and are very happy with the way they are treated.

I contacted the Lone Fir and asked about parking. They said there is plenty of room for trailers, and it will not be a problem.

Anyone have an idea on what time this convoy is going to leave Cougar? I want to get there early enough to have some breakfast at the Cougar Cafe.

Re: Eagle Cliff Snow Run 2009

I believe there is no run Sunday, I think that's pack up and go home day.  Saturday would definitely be your best day to come.

I'm not sure about cell reception in the area, so if you don't get to the Lone Fir resort by 8-ish am (i'm guessing) before we leave, the best way will be over the CB.  Channel 4 (most likely)

Kara and I will be going up Friday morning, might eat at the cougar cafe is we get there in time.

Likely to be my last snow run with my jeep until next winter.

Hmm. Well, we won't be leaving BG until about 7:30ish so we may not catch you either if you are leaving at 8:00.

Re: Eagle Cliff Snow Run 2009

I called the Lone Fir and they said the only way to get to Cougar is through Woodland.

We will figure out the time of every thing for this weekend at the meeting Wednesday night. We will meet somewhere Friday morning and caravan up to Cougar. Unload our stuff and go find some SNOW. Come back and stay the night in the cabin. Saturday we will head out again (time to be determined) and come back to the cabin and have a Potluck dinner. If everyone that comes could bring a dish we will have plenty of food (the club will NOT be providing any food). Sunday we will get up and clean the cabin and head home.

Some people will be be going up Friday morning, some people will go up Friday evening, and some people will just come up Saturday for the day.

As for the cost. The club will pay for the cabin for the weekend. All people that stay one night or two will only have to pay $10.00 per person.

If anyone has questions about this weekend bring them to the meeting and we will answer them.

I hope to see you all there. Marty T.

    Kara,

Apparently you shot some video of Craig (the guy in the Toyota PU). Can you call or text Keith and get my private email and send me the video? Thanks much.

I think it may be too big to send in email but I will try. It may be easier just to give it to you on a DVD with all the vids and pics from the weekend if you'd like? I'll bring copies to the next meeting.
